Wan Dancer prompts & inputs: getting the good outputs
Wan-Dancer-14B takes three inputs — a photo, a music track and a short style prompt — and every one of them moves the quality needle. These are the patterns that consistently work.
The reference photo (biggest lever)
- Vertical, full body — head to feet visible, no crops at the knees
- Even lighting — harsh shadows get baked into every frame
- Simple background — the model keeps identity better when the subject is clearly separated
- Front-facing, arms visible (not in pockets, not holding things)
Style prompts that work
Keep the prompt short — one line naming the style and the energy. Copy these as starting points:
K-pop
"a K-pop idol performing sharp, synchronized choreography"
Works best with high-energy tracks that have a clear, steady beat. Sharp arm lines and formation-style moves.
Chinese Classical
"a dancer performing graceful Chinese classical dance with flowing sleeves"
Pairs with slower, melodic music. Long flowing garments in the reference photo reinforce the style.
Street
"a street dancer freestyling hip-hop moves"
Strong beats and bass-heavy tracks drive punchier footwork and isolations.
Latin
"a dancer performing energetic Latin dance with hip movement"
Salsa, bachata or reggaeton rhythms give the model clear percussion to lock onto.
Tap
"a tap dancer performing rhythmic tap steps"
Percussive, swing-era or drum-forward tracks make the step timing land visibly on beat.
The music
- A clear, consistent beat gives the keyframe planner the most to work with — heavily rubato or ambient tracks produce vaguer choreography
- Trim silence from the start of the file; dead air becomes idle frames
- Testing a setup? Use a 15–20s clip first, then commit to the full song (relevant when self-hosting where render time is real money)
Rights reminder
Apache-2.0 covers the model, not your inputs: use photos you have permission for, and remember commercial posts need music you've licensed — platform libraries (TikTok/Reels commercial sound collections) are the easy route.
